1. Privacy at a glance

General information

The following gives a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. Personal data is any data that can identify you personally. This website is deliberately kept simple: it sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, and loads no content from third-party servers.

Who is responsible for data collection on this website?

Data on this website is processed by the website operator. You will find their contact details under “Controller” below.

How do we collect your data?

Some data is collected because you give it to us, for example by email or when you sign up for the newsletter. Other data is collected automatically by our IT systems when you visit the website. This is mainly technical data (e.g. browser, operating system or time of access).

What do we use your data for?

Some of the data is collected to deliver the website without errors. We use your email address to answer your request or to send you the newsletter if you have subscribed.

What rights do you have regarding your data?

You have the right at any time to receive information free of charge about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request that this data be corrected or deleted. If you have given consent to data processing, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. Under certain circumstances you may request that the processing of your personal data be restricted. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. You can contact us at any time about these or other data protection questions.

2. Hosting

Strato

This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany (“Strato”). When you visit our website, Strato records various log files, including your IP address. For more information, see Strato’s privacy policy: strato.de/datenschutz.

We use Strato on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in presenting our website as reliably as possible.

Data processing agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement with Strato. This legally required contract ensures that Strato processes our visitors’ personal data only on our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

3. General information and mandatory disclosures

Data protection

We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy. Please note that data transmitted over the internet (e.g. by email) may have security gaps. Complete protection against access by third parties is not possible.

Storage period

Unless a more specific period is stated in this policy, your personal data remains with us until the purpose of processing no longer applies. If you make a justified request for deletion or withdraw your consent, your data will be deleted unless we have other legally permissible reasons for storing it (e.g. retention periods under tax or commercial law); in that case it will be deleted once those reasons no longer apply.

Legal bases

Where you have given consent, we process your data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Where data is needed to perform a contract or pre-contractual measures, we process it on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR; where it is needed to fulfil a legal obligation, on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR. Processing may also be based on our legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The relevant legal basis is stated in each section of this policy.

Recipients of personal data

We pass personal data to external parties only where this is necessary to perform a contract, where we are legally obliged to do so (e.g. to tax authorities), where we have a legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, or where another legal basis permits it. We pass data to processors only on the basis of a valid data processing agreement.

Withdrawal of consent

You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time. The lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal remains unaffected.

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)

Where processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. If you object, we will no longer process the data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims (Art. 21 (1) GDPR). If your data is processed for direct marketing, you have the right to object to such processing at any time, including related profiling; your data will then no longer be used for direct marketing (Art. 21 (2) GDPR).

Right to lodge a complaint

In the event of breaches of the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged breach. This right is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedies.

Right to data portability

You have the right to receive data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or of a contract, or to have it transmitted to a third party, in a common machine-readable format. Direct transfer to another controller takes place only where technically feasible.

Access, rectification and erasure

Within the applicable legal provisions, you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, its origin, recipients and the purpose of processing, and where applicable a right to rectification or erasure of this data.

Right to restriction of processing

You have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data, in particular if you dispute its accuracy, if the processing was unlawful, if we no longer need the data but you need it to assert legal claims, or if you have objected under Art. 21 (1) GDPR and the balancing of interests is still pending.

SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the “https://” at the start of the address bar and the lock symbol in your browser. When encryption is active, data you send to us cannot be read by third parties.

Objection to advertising emails

We object to the use of the contact details published in our imprint for sending unsolicited advertising and information material. We expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of unsolicited advertising, such as spam emails.

4. Data collection on this website

Enquiries by email or phone

If you contact us by email or phone, your enquiry, including all personal data it contains (name, request), is stored and processed to handle your request. We do not pass this data on without your consent. Processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, and otherwise on our legitimate interest in handling enquiries effectively (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The data remains with us until you ask us to delete it or the purpose no longer applies (e.g. once your request has been dealt with). Mandatory statutory provisions, in particular retention periods, remain unaffected.

5. Newsletter

Mailchimp

If you sign up for our newsletter, your email address is transmitted to and stored by our newsletter provider Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., 2700 Coast Avenue, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). We use a double opt-in procedure: you will only receive updates after confirming your subscription via the link in a confirmation email. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to us.

Mailchimp processes data in the USA. Intuit is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Mailchimp may also analyse whether newsletters are opened and which links are clicked. After you unsubscribe, we remove your address from the mailing list.
